The Big Lebowski

Just learning Flash right now, and here's some rubbish I have come up with. I love the Big Lebowski so much that I didn't bother to make up new scenarios.

That's The Jesus for you!
Here's Walter and The Dude.

And here is an EXCLUSIVE Trailer for the new animated feature "A Clowns Tale"!!! Animated entirely with the use of a mouse.

Super Serious No Silliness Sketches

Here are some sketches. I'm going to try to put a lid on 'the crazy' so that if potential employers come around, they'll know I have a good work ethic and can be super serious. It's tough though. I just wanted you to know that every serious word I type has had to be put through a mental 'check-point' where silliness is discarded like the soggy weetabix of yesterday.

My Show Reel

My Animation Show Reel

Please click above to watch my animation show reel on Youtube.com. Without the help of the many talented, beautiful and industrious students at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, my show reel would be EVEN worse. The tutors were marvellous too. I hope you don't puke up all over yourself after enduring two and a half minutes of my work =D

The Knight with MUSIC!

Here's that mushroom/Knight animation but with music. It is 'Fog' by Radiohead.

Here's me and my brother, Henry (aka Little H aka Hen aka Henners aka Boris the Blade) in Beijing.

The Temptation of Sir Galahad

Yay, unemployment rocks! I am my own boss. I pay myself as much or as little as I see fit. I get to watch neighbours BOTH times during the day. I always find the second viewing very...moving. Yesterday I spent half the day sitting in sticky Bee's (Starbucks) drinking tap water. Got mum to record the latter installment of Neighbours ofcourse. Nice little set up.

So here's my old 2nd year film about a horse or something. You there, yes you! The person reading this drivel. Please comment on the film. Oh and thank you to Anwar Ali for telling me how to compress files like MAGIC!

Also, a while ago I met this guy randomly in the pub. He claimed to be ME, but from the year 2008. He said he came back in time by riding on the back of an alcoholic who happened to be running at the speed of light. He said he had come back to warn me that if I didn't change my ways, I'd end up just like the fat kid from the Goonies only taller, thinner and older. Perfect!

Here I am, sitting next to my future self.

Quick Thumbnails

Here are some quick sketches of the crazy old man character.

Walter

I love that Kinks song, 'Walter'. But this has absolutely nothing to do with that.

Here is a test lip sync, another rough one! I'm still learning, so be gentle.

It's Walter from the marvellous film 'The Big Lebowski' (If you haven't seen it then hang your head in shame!)
John Goodman's voice is just great for animating too (as seen on 'The Emporers New Groove' - if you haven't seen that then hang your head. If you're already hanging it, then continue to do so!)

Erm...where was I. Anyway, enjoy!

Walter - You're being veeeeeeeeeeery Un-Dude

Throw me a Frikkin BONE here!

Dr Evil Dialogue

This is another rough animation I did ages ago. It's all done with the mouse and straight ahead, so the lines are shaky and...well, naff.

Any comments are MUCH appreciated. Even if you're just slagging it off. Thats cool!

Octopus

3D Octopus Test

This is a rough test render of the 3D Octopus. The main character (animated by Desiree) is dragged down to the depths and drowned. Or does he? *spooky*

Anyway, the 3D Octopus was Modelled by Chris Gibbons. He did it so quickly that he almost managed to trick Time itself, and travelled afew micro seconds into the past.

I really enjoyed jiggling about with the texture, an ink and paint effect (again Chris taught me how! Oh and Ash showed me a trick or too aswell) Rendering is...um fun? Nah. Kinda. No.

Comments welcome! Oh who am I kidding? No one looks at these things!!!

Olde Animation Film

This is a very old animation I did in the first half of the second year at college (phew)
It doesn't have a story line as such....but it was a brief involving the theme of going to another world.

Knight Animation

Please please comment!

3DS Max Sword Fight Animation

I love animation - I love the freedom of being able to animate a character and get a tremendous kick out of breathing life into them. And now, thanks to a crash course in 3DS Max by Chris Gibbons aka Gibbo (one of the best animators I have ever met!), I have tried my hand at 3D animation.

The characters are just blocks and shapes linked together using the er...linky tool...in Max. And then animated bit by bit using the...er...mouse...thing. And behold!

Alright, I won't try and pretend to be an expert. But I am immensely proud of the result. It's not pretty, clever, big or funny and there is very little colour...but....well there is no 'but'. 3D rocks, AND its not nearly as scary as I thought.

Comments are welcome!

3DS MAX Sword Animation

Punch Test

Punch Pencil Test

This is a very rough test for the college animation. He gets hit in the back by a crow and then punches it. Hmmm...random.

Below is a really skanky lip sync (my second ever attempt!). It's so skanky and rough that when I uploaded it the computer beeped and actually said, in a disgusted west country accent, "You Dirty Great Skank"

Shocking.

College People, Bless them

This is a rather strange illustration I did a few years back.

This devilishly handsome fellow is Minaz Uddin, another animator at College. Remember his name, and fear it! Um...well he's a damned good animator anyway. (artists impression)

And THIS is Namdi. He is also an amazing animator, and a tireless innovator. Remember his name also. (I apologise to the people who's portraits I upload. Many were done surreptitiously=)

I'll dig up some more amazing animator portraits!

Ok that is Paul Steere, or Pauly. The picture doesn't do him justice! I should really find the links to their pages...but I recently had surgery and am now infected. After alot of blood loss, I can't go into college. But enough of that! More College people cometh:

This is Desiree! Animator and Time Traveller. Not a time traveller. But that would be cool, no? Anyway, I will get her blog address so you can see for yourselves how good her work is. As with the others, Remember and fear her name etc.

This hard working fellow is Ash Da Cash, master of motion, Crafter of Creativity, Maker of...maker of things...Maker of amazing films! Phew. Well he's a super animator and a DJ too! Remember. Fear.

More College Film Stuff

This is a loose concept for a stormy ocean scene in the film. I have since animated lots of water for it and our highly talented compositer (Chris Page http://www.3dsketchbook.com/) has made it look really lovely. We are going to have a 3D boat in there. So 2D ocean with 3D boat. Hmmm. It's tricky!

This is my cat, Mr Fluffy Face. He's cute as a button! I used to draw him all the time but...hey wait a...this is meant to be an animation blog. I apologise.

...

...But look at him! If you don't think he's as sweet as a lil nut then you are dead inside!!!!

*Sigh* Back to college film.

Here is a design I did for the mansion in our film. I am an offense to the art of painting! But practice makes perfect.

College Film Stuff

This is the 'Pygmy' character for a collaborative project I am working on at college. He's a wise old herb merchant who lives in the forest of eyes. He is quite mad and talks through the dead fox on his shoulder. Abit like that guy with the Emu.

He is also a terrible ventrilloquist and so you can see his mouth moving when the fox speaks. He says things like "I know what you're up to" and "I am the walrus"

He exists in the main characters twisted dreams as a representation of the psychiatrist who is trying to bring him back to reality. So he's in a sort of doctors coat.

"Yes, Fluffy. I agree. He's quite, quite mad."
